Benghazi International Stadium Renewed with Hatko Hybridgrass Pitch

BENGHAZI, LIBYA – After more than a decade, Benghazi International Stadium has officially returned to service following a major expansion and renovation program. The stadium now has a seating capacity of 40,000 fans and features upgraded infrastructure, with the project reaching completion in 2025.
A central element of this renewal is the installation of a Hatko Hybridgrass pitch. This high-performance playing surface was selected to support an intensive schedule of football matches and athletics activities throughout the year. By combining the natural characteristics of grass with advanced reinforcement technology, the new field delivers the durability and consistency required for a modern, multi-purpose international venue.
The quality of the pitch was demonstrated during the Reconstruction Cup on 10 October 2025, when Inter Milan and Atlético Madrid faced off in a high-profile friendly match, marking the return of elite football to Libyan soil. The Hybridgrass system provided a stable and reliable platform, meeting the rigorous performance demands of world-class athletes.
This project represents an important step forward for Libya’s sporting infrastructure. Beyond enhancing playing conditions, the stadium stands as a symbol of progress and renewed sporting ambition for the region. Supported by Hatko Hybridgrass as a key component of its long-term performance strategy, Benghazi International Stadium is now positioned to host major international events. On a night celebrated by thousands of passionate supporters, football once again brought pride, unity, and optimism to a nation deeply connected to the game.
