How to install artificial turf2019-04-21T09:14:14+03:00

There are 2 application types of artificial Grass

  1. Sports Fields
  2. Landscaping & Leisure

For this two applications different artificial grass products exist and these different type of artificial grass requires different type of installation techniques.

A. Artificial Grass installation on Sports Fields

  1. Design of Project: The Sports like Football, Soccer, Rugby, Baseball, Hockey, Tennis, are played on Grass surfaces whether they can be artificial grass or Hybrid Grass Or Natural Grass. Depending on the sport the surface requirements dictate the  entire design criteria of the sports facility from the subbase to the allocation of the field. The Design of the Project Should be done by technical offices or consultants in accordance with the legal and environmental requirements of the territory where the pitch is desired to built.
  2. Subbase Construction : According the project design parameters , an excavation for stripping of the top soil and levelling is provided by excavation and/or grading.
  3. Subbase Compaction:After the excavation finished, the field is compacted with a compactor until 97% Proctor is reached.
  4. Drainage System:Stormwater management has become increasingly important and should be carefully considered when selecting a site. Rainfall parameters will dictate the design criterias of the drainage plan. Diameter of the draining pipes and the distances and allocations. As the drain canals are trenched, the draining pipe network is established to collect the rain drained through the artificial grass. After connecting the drainpipe network to discharging manholes the trenches are backfilled with non clogging & draining aggregate.
  5. Backfilling Reservoir Layer:A reservoir layer which the thickness and gradation of the aggregate of this layer is defined by the design is laid over the pitch and graded by a preferably laser guided grader. The levelling of the pitch should be accommodated not exceed slopes more than 1%
  6. Periperals of the Field: The peripheral curbs of the pitch should be installed. The Artificial Grass carpet should be fitted in accordance with the HATKO’s recommendations.
  7. Top Layer:The Final layer which may provide a permeability value of ….mm/min should be installed and rolled, The Thickness of this layer should follow the designers limitations. After installation the top layer should be levelled and compacted with a roller and the undulance’s should be less then 10mm under a 3m straight edge.
  8. E-layer: Depending on the artificial grass system preferred by the designer or consultant or the decision makers there may be an elastic layer as a part of the artificial grass system. This elastic layer could be an insitu build e-layer or a prefabricated. Depending on the selection of the grass system, the e-layer is applied on the pitch.
  9. Installation Of Artificial Grass Carpet:The Rolls of Artificial grass carpet are distributed over the pitch according to layout provided by HATKO. The rolls are unrolled and laid on the surface and left for relaxation to adjust the carpet for the climatic conditions. Since Artificial Grass Carpet is a textile product it may enlarge and/or shrink due to the ambient temperature and humidity. So it is essential to let the product for a day to adapt itself for the ambient. After the adaptation is over the edges of the carpet rolls are trimmed by a special carpet trimming knife and all carpet rolls are adjusted to fit in the perimeters of the field. After the trimming and Fitting is finished. A two component HATKO PU Adhesive for artificial grass is prepared my mixing Component A and B with a drill with a mixing propeller. As the glue become ready to be applied a seaming tape which will serve as a carrier for the glue is laid in between the grass carpet. The prepared glue is dispersed over the Seaming tape when the Artificial Grass carpet is folded to the sides and after the dispersing is done the carpet edges should be laid over the seaming tape and should be fitted as there are adjacent to each other with a distance of the carpet gauge of fiber tufts. A Joint roller is used to press over the glued seams to create better adherence of the Artificial Grass carpet and seaming tape. Lines of the field can be installed in the field with the sampe principles or it can be painted with a line marking paint available from HATKO. After the glue is cured the Artificial Grass carpet is ready to be filled with the stabilizing infill which will stabilize the Artificial Grass to the surface of the subbase. The infilling should be done by a specially designed artificial grass infill machine to ensure the levelling and the uniformity of the infill. While infilling or afterwards sufficient brushing should be made to lift all the fibers which may be buried under the infill. After all the fibers are surfaced nicely the infilling operation of the elastic infill layer can be done in the same principles of stabilizing infill.
  10. Installation of accessories:As the installation of the field the accessories like goal mounts and corner flags are installed according to the field requirements.
  11. Field Testing & Field Certification :As the installation of the field is accomplished it is crucial to ensure the installation quality and artificial grass surface quality if it is in accordance with the regulations of the related sports governing body. For every sports the governing bodies such as FIFA, World Rugby Federation, FIH and etc. regulates the requirements of the surface and the only way to ensure if these are et on the installation is the field testing which can be performed by an independent accredited laboratory by the governing body. After the Arfield is tested according to the standards of the Governing Body.

Estimate the most effective and cost saving method to lay the artificial grass rolls Bu sure that all rolls are laid in the same direction to provide a color matching and uniform finish
  3. After Estimating the artificial grass quantity, find out the total lenfht of the rolls ypu will purchase and this will be equal to the total length of seaming tape you will need. The amount of glue will be 500gr for each meter of seaming tape.

Can I lay artificial grass on soil2019-05-13T21:21:22+03:00

Artificial Grass backings are very strong and durable against the environmental conditions but humidity would decrease the tuft lock of the secondary backing, it is very important to establish a good drainage for the Lifespan of Artificial Turf. In this context the to “lay artificial grass on soil” is not recommended since the draining properties of soil is not good enough and soil can turn in to mud so the stability of surface will not be enough to maintain a stable sub-base and surface.

How do you clean artificial turf?2019-05-13T21:19:42+03:00
