What is the basic rules of tennis

The area where tennis is played is called a court. The professionally designed tennis court is rectangular. This tennis court measurements has a length of 23.77 meters and a width of 10.97 meters. This net must be taut and must have a very tight fabric so that it does not pass through the ball.

If the ball thrown by a player bounces in the halffield where the opponent is thrown before hitting the ball, if the player fails to hit the ball, the player strikes the net after hitting the ball, if the ball goes off the court after hitting the ball, the ball touches the player’s body, the ball touches the racket more than once. If the racket passes the net, it will be fouled and the shot will be repeated. If one of these prohibitions occurs in the repeated shot, the order of the shooting passes.

Tennis is a sport played in three or five sets, players is wons with two sets in three sets and three sets in five sets .

The match starts with a score of 0 – 0. With the first number, the athlete (s) reach 15 points, with the second points 30 and with the third number 40 points. The set is won by the fourth score. If both sides get the same score, the match will be a draw.

In a tennis match, which starts with the use of a service by one of the parties, the serve is replaced in sequence. The service must be carried out according to the rules specified behind the specified line. First service should be left and second service should be right.

If the ball is inserted into the net while the shuttle is in use, the ball goes out of the field, or moves to a part outside the service square, it is foul and a second service is granted. If one of the errors is repeated, the chances of the service pass to the opposite side and the player loses points.

Terms of Tennis (Concepts Used in Tennis Sports)

What is the basic rules of tennis

As in every sport, there are terms specific to this sport. Service, Forehand Backhand, Ace and tie-break are the most commonly used terms.

  • Service

It is the shot that the player throws the ball in the air and sends it to the opponent’s half court. In service the ball is handled without a racket. The ball and racket are held in parallel. The service zone is passed and the ball is thrown two arms high. The ball that is falling down is hit with a racket. The faster the racket is stretched and the stronger it is hit, the more successful the service is.

  • Forehand

It is one of the basic strokes in tennis and is the name given to the shot when the hand with the racket is facing towards the opponent. The player must pull his arm back and hold it taut while forehand hit. The legs must stand bent and parallel in this stroke. In this shot, the racket should stand at the bottom of the knees and the ball should be moved in this way.

  • Backhand

It is one of the important strokes in tennis and is done by pulling the racket backwards and holding the racket facing towards the side. During this stroke, the knees should be parallel and slightly bent, the ball should be supported by the front of the knees while hitting the ball and the racket should be held with both hands and the shot must be performed in that way.

  • Tie-break

Tie break is a rule that only applies to certain tournaments. 6-6 is the game played in the case of a draw. Seven points wins by two margins. If a player reaches 7 points, if there is no 2 difference, the game continues until one player takes the lead by 2.

  • Double Error

In the case of a service failure, if two consecutive rules cannot be taken (inserting the ball into the net or failing to hit the serving square), a double error occurs and the opponent receives the score.

  • Ace:

In tennis, Ace is a service that does not meet an opponent’s proper service and thus directly points to the player making the shot.
